Project Officer - Sweetening Justice: CARE International in Kenya Jobs

CARE International in Kenya is looking for a dynamic, well organized and highly motivated individual who is results-oriented to fill the following position in its Sweetening Justice for Vulnerable Women, Children and People Living with HIV project under the OVC integrated program in Kibera, Nairobi.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Project Coordinator, Sweetening Justice Project, the Project Officer is responsible for day to day project implementation, partnership building, and capacity strengthening of stakeholders, preparing project reports and updating the Project Coordinator on work plan progress.

The Project Officer shall facilitate implementation of all proposed interventions under the Sweetening Justice project, maintaining synergies with other projects in Kibera for purposes of strengthening rights protection for children, women and PLWHIV.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Implement effective strategies that promote and protect the rights of women,children and People Living with HIV.
· In liaison with program partners, support and facilitate community workshops to mobilize action aimed at addressing rights protection as per the approved proposal.
· Identify training needs of the project and it is partners on gender mainstreaming.
· Organize and facilitate capacity development trainings of partner organizations and individuals as per the approved program.
· Facilitate the development of formal partnership with the program partners in liaison with the Project Coordinator and maintain good working relationships and feedback.
· Support various teams especially in strengthening CSO strengthening and capacity building efforts, Child rights programming and use of RBA approaches
· Develop progress reports as per the donor's contractual requirements on a timely basis and keep track of all project related transactions.
· Facilitate field based program monitoring and evaluation activities and surveys in consultation with the Project Coordinator and closely involving and working with staff from other projects.
· Monitor qualitative delivery of and performance of project interventions.
· Document key lessons and best practices and disseminate them appropriately.

Qualifications/Skills

· Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Sciences/ Community Development or related field.
· At least three years experience in community development work preferably in an NGO setting.
· Demonstrable experience in gender mainstreaming and analysis process.
· Excellent planning and organizational skills.
· Good communication and facilitation skills
· Must be a self-motivated and reliable person who can work with minimal supervision.
· Computer literate as a basic requirement.
