Monitoring and Evaluation Officer – ARC REF: 2010/02/06

CARE International in Kenya (CIK) is looking for a suitably qualified candidate to fill the position of Monitoring and Evaluation Officer.

The successful candidate will be based in Garissa Sub-office and reports to the Project Manager within its Arid and Marginal LandsRecovery Project in Northern Kenya.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure effective implementation of the Arid and marginal Lands Recovery Project Monitoring and Evaluation activities through participation in establishing and maintaining project M & E systems, design of surveys, providing specific guidance
  • Review and support the implementation of the monitoring and evaluation plan for the ARC project.
  • To ensure the coordination of monitoring activities through the development of methodologies to facilitate and promote adherence to work plans towards a qualitative and quantitative management systems and tools.
  • Give technical input into the review of reports and participate in field assessments.
  • Participate in project surveys and organizing/ facilitating quarterly, annual project review meetings with project staff, consortium and give feedback on M/E issues.
  • To coordinate M & E information flow from implementing partners, processing M & E data and preparing reports for submission to project management and stakeholders.
  • To ensure the rapid dissemination of data within ARC project staff, as well as to key partners and stakeholders, analyzing feedback and making recommendations for adaptation and improvements.

Qualification & Experience:

  • A degree in M&E, social science or any other relevant social science discipline
  • Three years relevant experience working in M&E
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages is required. Proficiency in statistical packages is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
  • Excellent analytical, planning and organizational skills
  • Must be self motivated and reliable person who can work with minimal supervision.
