Grain Trade Institute Coordinator: Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) Jobs in Kenya

The Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) is a membership based organization incorporating the key stakeholders in the regional grain industry from the private and public sector.

Our Mandate is to develop, promote, and influence structured grain trading systems in the Eastern Africa region.

We aim to improve the policy and trading environment, strengthen market linkages and reduce the constraints along the grain value chains; capacity building is core in the achievement of our mandate.

The Grain Trade Institute Coordinator that we seek will be based at the EAGC secretariat in Nairobi and will have responsibility for all activities relating to capacity building and training in the Eastern Africa region.

In particular, you will effectively run a self sustaining Grain Trade Institute taking charge of:

  • Developing relevant capacity building and training programmes and promoting the institute and programmes to stakeholders,
  • Selection and placement of faculty, professional advisors, trainers and the management of their performance,
  • Design and roll out of a student learning programme that will entail partnering with community-based learning centres, student attachment and training of trainers quality assurance,
  • Institutional strengthening which will involve linkages with approved institutions,
  • Institute administration including student admissions, annual planning, budgeting and budgetary control and periodic reporting.

Requirements

You will be an experienced administrator with at least a Master’s degree agricultural economics, agribusiness or a related field, and have a commitment to ongoing quality improvement and professional development.

We will be looking for demonstrable experience of institutional management, teaching adult learners and of managing capacity building programmes.

Proven experience of setting priorities, effective planning and people management is essential.

An excellent command of English and working knowledge of Kiswahili is core.

Work experience from an institute of higher learning is an advantage.
