CHF is looking for key personnel in the implementation of a range of program activities. All positions are a contingent upon CHF being awarded the funding. All positions will involve extensive field travel.

BCC Technical Advisor

The Advisor will be responsible for providing strategic and technical guidance, overseeing planning and implementation of programs that promote healthy behaviors and improve BCC for HIV prevention, care, treatment and support, malaria, maternal child health, and family planning services in close collaboration with project staff and other implementing partners with the overall goal of improving healthy living and expanding access to relevant services in Kenya.

The position is responsible for developing, testing, monitoring and evaluating methodologies, messages, training curricula and tools and will capture, document and disseminate proven best practices.

Applicant Qualifications and Experience:

Masters Degree in public health, social sciences, social marketing, communications, or relevant field with a minimum of 7 years experience implementing, managing and evaluating behavior change programs in Kenya.

Proven communications, interpersonal, writing, management and leadership skills are required to promote excellence and accountability in the workplace and within the program. Ability to communicate, liaison, and coordinate with partner organizations and relevant government officials is a must.

Economic Strengthening Technical Advisor

The Advisor is responsible for the overall design, training, facilitation, and monitoring of market-based interventions that address vulnerable populations as well as developing public-private partnerships to ensure program sustainability.

The Advisor will

  • conduct sector studies to assess and identify the most economically viable sectors in which vulnerable populations can engage, focusing on the identification and development of linkages within those sectors;
  • design and oversee implementation of all economic strengthening activities;
  • work with local partner organizations to promote individual and/or group assets growth through saving and lending groups and support potential microfinance institutions to develop products that are effective and beneficial to vulnerable populations; and
  • manage data collection in a timely and efficient manner to enable timely and accurate reporting as per donor and CHF internal requirements.

Applicant Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in business, economics, international development or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years experience designing and implementing sustainable economic strengthening/livelihoods programming with USAID-funded programs preferred.
  • Experience with PLWHA and OVCs or other vulnerable populations on sustainable market-based programs highly desirable.
  • Ability to communicate, liaison, and coordinate with partner organizations and relevant government officials is a must.

Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Advisor

The Advisor has overall responsibility for the successful implementation of the program design, monitoring and evaluation systems to track the impact of the CHF portfolio of projects.

The Advisor will

  • develop logical frameworks linked to performance management plans;
  • develop hierarchy of objectives;
  • identify key indicators and means of verification;
  • manage data collection & analysis process including managing data collection schedule and logistics of data collection, entry, and analysis in concurrence with Government of Kenya and donor systems;
  • organize and manage data collection team and consultants as necessary;
  • design and adapt quantitative and qualitative research tools and mechanisms to monitor system performance and evaluate the appropriateness and relevance of the approved intervention strategies; and
  • will work with program staff, partners, and donors to update the draft performance management plan submitted as part of the proposal and to ensure consistent data collection and management.
  • This is a leadership position and involves oversight and supervision of M&E staff.

Applicant Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in social sciences, development studies, statistics, economics or related field with at least 7 years work experience in planning processes, performance management, monitoring and evaluation in large governmental or international development organization of which at least two years have been at a senior level.
  • USAID experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate, liaison, and coordinate with partner organizations and relevant government officials is a must.

OVC Technical Advisor

This position is responsible for ensuring that services provided to targeted beneficiaries are of the highest possible caliber and effectiveness.

Specifically, the Advisor will

  • provide technical advice and support in the area of orphans and vulnerable children (OVC);
  • coordinate the overall technical support in OVC ensuring gender and age appropriateness;
  • assist and mentor local partners to develop and implement OVC quality service provision strategies and standards and develop linkages to existing community and governmental structures and;
  • and will be responsible for developing, testing, monitoring and evaluating methodologies, messages, training curriculum and tools and will capture, document and disseminate proven best practices.

Applicant Qualifications and Experience:

  • Masters Degree in social work, social sciences, psychology or a closely related field with at least 7 years of related and progressively responsible experience in child-welfare related fields.
  • Successful experience managing programs benefiting OVC is required.
  • Experience working in support of community based organizations and public sector capacity to deliver HIV/AIDS or OVC services desired.
  • Ability to communicate, liaison, train and coordinate with partner organizations and relevant government officials is a must.

Capacity Building Technical Advisor

The Capacity Building (CB) Advisor will be the principal trainer for CHF/Kenya and will work closely with all staff to ensure that training and capacity building activities are of the highest possible caliber, effective and community based.

The Advisor will

  • coordinate capacity building activities and design and assess training tools and modules covering a wide range of areas in coordination with and the support of CHF’s technical staff.
  • Identify and strengthen linkages that promote collaboration between local partner organizations and in-country expertise from international and national NGOs.
  • The Advisor will work in partnership with the entire CHF team to build the capacity of local partner organizations.

Applicant qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in education, community health and development, public health, international development, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • At least 7 years experience in development and coordination of education and training activities and/or capacity building of local organizations; experience in health field preferred.
  • USAID experience preferred.
  • Advanced interpersonal communication skills, relationship building and organizational skills;
  • demonstrated experience in participatory methodologies preferred.
