EAC Health Programme Assistant - (Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Child Health, Population and Development

Reports to: Senior Reproductive Health Officer (Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Child Health, Population and Development)

Organ/Institution: EAC Secretariat

Duration of Contract: Three (3) Years

Main Purpose of the Job:

The Health Programme Assistant will provide technical, administrative and logistical support to the EAC Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Child Health, Population and Development Programme.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical, administrative and logistical support to the EAC Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Child Health, Population and Development Programme.
2. Assist in the organization and facilitation of internal and external meetings, training courses, seminars, conferences, field visits, workshops and events in liaison with the relevant EAC professional and support staff.
3. Facilitate the writing and compilation of various technical and administrative reports relevant to the EAC Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Child Health, Population and Development Programme.
4. Coordinate and facilitate the joint activities of the EAC Partner States’ National Nurses and Midwives Councils and Associations as well as the Forum for East African Nurses (FEAN), among other duties as may be assigned from time.
Qualification and Experience:
• A basic Diploma in Registered Community Health Nursing (RCHN) from a recognized medical training institution, with a post-basic certificate in Public Health Nursing.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in nursing may be an added advantage.
• Relevant working experience of at least five years in public health setting at district, national or regional level within East Africa, with experience in the implementation of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Adolescent Health, Child Health, Population and Development Projects and Programmes.
• Ability to develop integrated results oriented annual work plans and other organization-wide activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, developing policies and procedures, and organizing the functions necessary to accomplish the activities);
Skills and Competences:
• A Self driven individual with ability to work under minimal supervision, good computer skills, excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills as well as good report writing skills.
