Admission Open for Master of Education Programme: 2010Applications for admission to the Master of Education (MEd) programme are invited for the Aga Khan University's two-year, full-time programme. Classes commence in November 2010. Candidates may apply through one of the following routes:

1. Aga Khan University (AKU) and Kenya Government Scholarships

Applicants must be employees of the Teachers Service Commission or Ministry of Education and should be teachers or educators in the areas of English, mathematics, science and social studies/geography/history or should be in an educational leadership positions.Candidates must be willing to take up these partial scholarships co-funded by AKU and the Government of Kenya.

Successful candidates will be required to make a financial contribution of USD 525 towards their costs of studying and living in Dar es Salaam.Applications must be sent through the employer; either the Teachers Service Commission or the Ministry of Basic Education.

2. Privately Sponsored Student

Applicants must be professional teachers and must be currently working in the education sector.Applicants who would like to further their studies in areas of English, mathematics, social studies/geography/history or educational leadership and who are interested in taking a two-year, full-time, Master of Education (MEd) programme may apply.

Successful candidates will be required to pay tuition and accommodation fees of USD 4,525. Applicants do not need to apply through the employer.Note: Please mark clearly on the application form the route through which you are applying.

Admission requirements

Candidates must have:

· A Bachelor's degree, Second Class Upper Division (GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0) with a professional qualification in education;
· Minimum two years teaching experience accumulated after obtaining Bachelor's degree;
· In the case of TSC-employed teachers applying for AKU and Government of Kenya co-sponsorship, candidate must have served for at least six years as a teacher;
· Proficiency in English language.

Prospective applicants are advised to tune to Radio One Stereo on Saturday, February 20 from 11:00 AM to listen to presentations and call in to ask presenters specific questions about the programme.

All short-listed candidates will go through a logical reasoning and English language proficiency tests and an interview. The closing date for submitting application forms is Friday, March 11,2010.
